The showcase of work featured here represents a portion of learning through the Master of Arts in Education (MAED) Graduate Program at Michigan State University. My program emphasis was educational leadership. Leadership and problem solving, curriculum, and learning theory emerged as focal points in my studies. This project is an annotated curriculum for middle school English teachers. The focus is on the alignment of genres of writing, as well as grade appropriate prompts. By creating a digital platform for entry, this enables all teachers to have equal access to the resources provided. The teacher resources include: a project overview, writing units, and writing resources.

Assessment Analysis
This analysis of writing assessment demonstrates for teachers that the assessment of writing includes multiple facets including: a well designed rubric, subjective response, and collaborative assessment conferences. The purpose of this artifact is to demonstrate competence not only in thorough assessment, but provide a comprehensive model for teacher analysis and feedback.

Math Identity and the Student Teacher Relationship
Article Submission to Middle School Math Teacher
This article centers on the power of the relationship between the teacher and student in influencing a student's math identity. The purpose of the article is to remind educators that students, at their core, are social creatures and that achievement has been influenced by both positive and negative relationships between student and teacher.
Op-Ed: Does It Matter That We Understand How We Do Math?
Article
A reflection on the changing nature of math instruction, particularly that discovery-based math. It references student responses and anecdotes from classroom observations. Often educators get caught up in what is new in the teaching world, and this article serves to question some of the more prominent topics in current day math education. The article is not meant to be a reflection of personal beliefs, but to pose a question we can all consider.
CurriculumBuilding a Curriculum Library Curricular Project Annotated Bibliography This project was intended to inspire a curricular library on my school campus. In reality, the proposal was granted and the library is growing. For all educators, it is imperative to have easily accessible quality literature and resources in their school building. Making the library visible and easy to utilize is a key component in encouraging more organic professional learning communities and growth. |
